Today Sony announced the newest game by the fellas at Lichthund, Lichtspeer, which will be coming to the PlayStation Vita (as well as PS4 and PC) this September.

Part ancient lore, part futuristic design, Lichtspeer is an arcade lightspear-throwing simulator based in an ancient Germanic future. With Penguin Vikings, Wurst Zombies, and Hipster Ice Giants, it's up to you and your mighty spear to restore the balance and please the gods.

Marching to the drum of some pretty sadistic gods, you can defeat your enemies in a rather glorious display of cartoon gore and special attacks as you explore and survive a perilous land. Of course, you can also be defeated in a similarly glorious display.

As said before, Lichtspeer is set to drop on all platforms sometime this September. We'll update you with more information when it comes available.

A Brief History of the World is a board game that spans, well, a brief history of the world. And right now you can pick it up for just 99p / 99c. That's all of human history for less than the price of a coffee.

There's a huge amount to do here. You've got single player against various levels of AI, pass-and-play multiplayer, and online play with up to six players.

You can choose to play as Napoleon, Julius Caeser, or Genghis Khan, and then take on the rest of the world to try and conquer it all before time runs out. There are 40 events cars, 42 major empires, and 15 minor empires to deal with.

If you've ever fancied ruling the world, but you like to be frugal too, this one's for you. And you can click right here to swoosh over to the App Store and grab the game this second.

King has released free to play match-3 puzzler Candy Crush Soda Saga worldwide on iOS and Android as of today.

You don't need me to tell you this, but Soda Saga is the sequel to the enormously popular Candy Crush Saga.

It has over 135 levels (with more to come) of candy matching and new purple soda that switches up the direction of play. It also has five new game modes, as listed below:

Soda - Players are tasked to fill the board with fizzy purple sodaSoda Bears - Gamers must release the floating bears in sodaFrosting - Fight to crush the ice to free the bearsHoney - Release the bears stuck in the honeyChocolate - Remove all the chocolate from the board

You'll be introduced to a new character called Kimmy as she joins Tiffi and Mr. Toffee in this candy-obsessed venture.

There are also more bizarre additions, such as being able to match four candies in a square to create a Swedish Fish.

It's more of the same stuff mostly, with new elements and challenges to take on.

So, if that sounds sweet to you, consider downloading Candy Crush Soda Saga for free on the App Store [download] and Google Play [download].
&#;

The first Skate Lines flew under everyone's radar. It was a free to play skate simulation that had quite an original look. It was even well received by those who tried it on Android and iOS.

Well despite the lack of exposure, a sequel is on the way and it looks insane:

[Don't want me to spoil the surprise? Then head over to the PG Awards 2015 page before reading any further.]

You voted in your thousands during February and last night, at a lively exclusive event in San Francisco, 10 winners got up on stage in front of their peers to collect a gong for each of this year's 14 categories.

If your maths are up to scratch, you'll realise that means someone must have won more than one award.

Four someones, in fact.

Nitrome kicked off a double win by picking up the first category, Best Action/Adventure Game, with Platform Panic, before going on to be voted Best Developer (taking into account the studio's work on Platform Panic and the Android release of triple PG Awards 2014 winner Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage, alongside accomplished productions such as Endless Doves and Roller Polar).

Stoic Studio's highly praised The Banner Saga followed suit, conquering the Best Adventure/RPG Game and Android Game of the Year categories.

Nintendo, meanwhile, picked up Best Publisher for the second year in a row (and third time overall) together with 3DS Game of the Year for the hugely popular Super Smash Bros.

But the big one, Overall Game of the Year, ultimately went to ustwo's Monument Valley which had earlier also bagged iOS Game of the Year.

Which is not to detract from the achievement of the night's other winners. From Threes! to Papers, Please, the breadth of the victors serves to showcase both the quality and variety of the gaming experiences available to mobile gamers.

And that means we're all winners.

So let's celebrate and congratulate this year's champions, as well as all of the finalists for making 2014 such an exceptional portable gaming year.

You'll find the full list of PG Awards 2015 winners (and nominees) here.

Sometimes, it's not all about games. Sometimes it's also about experiences and how you can have fun with apps that go beyond the simple definition of a game.

Super Sculptor, an indie app released first on itch.io and now on iOS, is just that.

It's a sort of virtual toy in which you can create any sculpture that you want using digital objects featured in the game or anything taken by your camera and it looks bloody lovely:

Indie developer Seenapsis announced A Long Way Down, their debut game, today. It’s a roguelite card-based RPG headed for Nintendo Switch that uses cards to help you shape your adventure.
&#;
