Updated on December 24th, at 8:23: Predictably, Apple has pulled a Floppy Cloud from the App Store. If you managed to get it in time, the emulator will still work. If you didn't: sucks to be you.
Original story follows…

A cheeky developer named Kyle Hankinson has snuck a retro game emulator onto the iOS App Store, just before Apple froze the App Store to any changes for the Christmas break.

The app's called Floppy Cloud and it's a £1.49 / $1.99 universal app that purports to manage your documents. Only, if you manage a .NES or .SMC file it will suddenly morph into an emulator and let you play Super Mario World on your tablet.

You can find Floppy Cloud on the App Store.

The app's got save states, a few settings for performance tweaks, and - best of all - MFi controller support. Sounds like you're going to need our guide on the best MFi joypads.

We've got a full guide to using the emulator here, and it also includes some advice on backing the app up so you have it safe in the likely case that Apple pulls it from the App Store when it gets back to work (if not sooner).
Touch ArcadeAs often shrieking undistinguished woe,

"If life were to stop short just now it would still have been richly worth while, just for the sake of these past four weeks, wouldn't it?" said Anne. "I don't suppose we will ever have four such perfect weeks again--but we've HAD them. Everything--wind, weather, folks, house of dreams--has conspired to make our honeymoon delightful. There hasn't even been a rainy day since we came here."
O, that forced thunder from his heart did fly,A CRAB, forsaking the seashore, chose a neighboring green meadow as its feeding ground. A Fox came across him, and being very hungry ate him up. Just as he was on the point of being eaten, the Crab said, "I well deserve my fate, for what business had I on the land, when by my nature and habits I am only adapted for the sea?'

Valve's Steam Controller is getting a big software upgrade, bringing it into 2016 by improving compatability and adding support for the controller in virtual reality mode.

The device has proven to be successful for Valve as, according to its figures, has sold over 500'000 of their Steam controller and are clearly looking to sell more with VR compatibility, although it remains to be seen whether Valve's touchpad's will negate the problems with moving on an analogue stick in VR.

There's some other new features too, beyond the support for VR Game Theatre Mode. You can now also use "action sets" to configure the controller different for what you're doing: you might be driving in a game, flying in the same game or maybe just playing a super sensitive racing game.

There's also rumble pass-through and support for configuring your pad via the desktop. Further updates are promised by the company to add what it calls "Activators", allowing buttons to hold multiple configurations depending on whether you press, press and hold or even double tap the button.

Valve has also added support for non-Steam games, providing you add the game to your steam client. You can get the update on Steam, now.

"Marshall Elliott!" cried Anne. "Oh, Captain Jim--it wasn't-- yes, it WAS his voice--oh, Captain Jim, I didn't know him--and I was quite insulting to him! WHY didn't he tell me? He must have seen I didn't know him."
